  Edinburgh Monarchs

It was a packed house at the Edinburgh Marriott Hotel on Saturday night as the management, riders and supporters celebrated our truly wonderful season.

Following the birth of Elliot John Worrall late on Friday evening, Stevie Worrall sent his apologies for not being able to make it but everyone wished to pass on congratulations to Annabelle and Stevie on the arrival of their first child. The other six Scotwate Monarchs were present and they certainly know how to party.

All six riders spoke of their delight about being part of the team in 2014 and how well they had got on with their teammates. There was much sadness when Derek Sneddon lifted the microphone for the last time as the inspirational captain of the Monarchs.

Mike Hunter gave his traditional summary of the team and gave Craig Cook the greatest accolade possible by describing him as the greatest Monarchs that he had ever seen racing. Considering the number of great riders Mike has seen in his fifty plus years of watching the team that is indeed a wonderful statement about Craig.

With the night drawing to a close and all six Scotwaste Monarchs showing their skills on the dancefloor there was, maybe, a tear in some eyes as it was realised that that these seven special guys who have represented us so magnificently this season may never been seen together again.
