"Well, hello everyone! After a wee break to get my breath, it's good to be back talking to you and catch up by taking a look at what been happening in the world of the Edinburgh Scotwaste Monarchs!

It was good to see so many of you at the 2014 Season Review down in Leith a couple of weeks ago. Our young MC for the evening, Gordon Campbell, took us through the events of the year with interesting comments as usual from Derek Sneddon. I'm sure we were all waiting to see the Playoff Final second leg on the big screen and it didn't disappoint! I don't know about you but every time I watch Heat 15 and hear Bill Purnell's announcement it sends shivers down my back and I relive the moment when the Edinburgh Scotwaste Monarchs became league champions!

Last Saturday, Ed the Monarch and I were invited to the MSSC kiddies party at Murrayfield. We were there last year and Ed thoroughly enjoyed himself so much he didn't need to be asked twice to go back this year! He handed out the pressies to the kids who were delighted to get their photos taken with him! Thanks must go to Ella and her band of helpers for putting on such a great afternoon for the children. Her millionaire's shortbread was gorgeous!

This coming Friday sees the traditional video night at Leith Town Hall with the usual start time of 7.30. I did hear that our new exciting signing Max Clegg will be hoping to be there and going by past video nights there is always the chance that some news might be breaking! Be sure to be early to claim your seat as this event is perhaps the most popular of the close season and you'll end up standing at the back if you arrive late!

I wonder how you think our team for 2015 is shaping up. We always knew we had to lose riders in order to keep within the points limit but with our first four riders announced I think we will have a very attractive squad. Justin Sedgmen has all the ability to become a heat leader and Kevin Wolbert should put two points back on his average after a season at Glasgow. He still has many fans in Armadale and once again the crowd will warm to him. Welcome back Kevin! So, we now know that our reserves will be Robert Branford and Max Clegg – two young men with promising futures. Just give them a little time to find their feet and we may have another star or two in the making!

I had a relaxing break down in Blackpool but I won't do the joke about what the donkeys on the beach get for lunch! I'll tell you on Friday if you ask! Take care.
