SAM AND MAX IN ACTION

Sam Masters is the first of the Border Roofing Monarchs to be in action this season when he lines up in the Ben Fund Bonanza meeting at Swindon this afternoon. And it seems that the late withdrawal of Richard Lawson will offer a place in the line up to Max Clegg.

The event this year takes the form of a four team tournament with team representing England, Australia, Denmark and Poland. Sam, obviously, lines up in the Aussie team with Max in the England team.

This event remains the most important vehicle for raising funds for injured riders, something which is bound to remain such an important part of speedway. The Fund contributed over £99,000 to injured riders last year with 40 riders being assisted.

The meeting staged at Leicester last year raised £45,000 and as the total of the track collections was less than £20,000 it can be seen how important a successful Bonanza meeting is to the fund raising efforts.
