GREETINGS FROM UNCLE ‘B’

It's time for a little pre-season break so, by the time you read this, I will sunning myself on the wonderful island of Gran Canaria!

As you know, supporting the best Speedway team in the Premier League is tiring stuff and it's not just the riders who need to be in good condition! Seriously though, it was a joy last year travelling to the away tracks and giving the boys support and I look forward to doing the same this year. From what I see and hear, our guys are geared up and ready for the campaign ahead. Kevin has a stable of bikes ready for action, Craig's been getting fit and Sam's been practicing his smile!

I was out at the track last week and everything there is starting to look good. Unfortunately the poor weather on Saturday didn't allow the air fence to be brought out of storage. Maybe a job for this weekend. Listen out for a request for help later in the week. We always grateful to those who give Ronnie a hand. Much appreciated. Ronnie is one of those guys who works tirelessly very much behind the scenes and, if it wasn't for him, our Friday fun wouldn't run like clockwork.

Of course, we've got Theo Pijper's Testimonial first before the team matches take place. A lot of work is going into the meeting and the first dozen or so riders have been announced with a few still to confirm. One or two in particular I am looking forward to seeing race. While we're talking about Theo, I'm happy to see him fixed up with a team spot for 2015. I'm sure he'll be an integral part in Scunthorpe's quest for silverware.

As I said, I'm writing this a bit in advance but I wanted to wish those of you who travelled down to Swindon for the Ben Fund a safe journey. One or two changes to the line up but as long as all the riders are safe and the fans have a good time then it's all worthwhile. Young Max Clegg has told me that he would be involved in the meeting along with Sam. I look forward to hearing from some of you how the meeting went when I return.

Meanwhile, I've got to go. I've mislaid my speedos and there's no way I'm taking my mankini! Someone might recognize me! I'll let you know next time if I got a suntan! Take care!
