Not long now until the speedway season in the north commences at Armadale on Friday evening with the staging of the Theo Pijper Testimonial, Theo's Night of Champions. The meeting will get underway promptly at 7.30pm

Some good news and some bad news on road works in the area. The contraflow on the M8 motorway at Junction 4, the turn off for Armadale was removed on Tuesday, ahead of schedule. This will cause no problems for supporters travelling to Armadale.

However, roadworks are still in place from the final roundabout that you come off to turn into Armadale. Half the road has been lifted to allow for drainage work and the section is controlled by temporary traffic lights. With more than three hundreds cars likely to pass through those roadworks in the hour from 6.30pm onwards it seems certain that there will be a build up of traffic here and supporters are requested to allow up to fifteen minutes longer for their journey.

West Lothian Council have assured us that the traffic lights will be manned and will be regulated to prevent traffic queues. Simply by the volume of traffic it seems unlikely that they will be fully able to cope with this.

Supporters should also note that the roadworks contractors also have a compound within the main stadium car park and this reduces the number of parking spaces a little. Get there early is the best advice we can give.

It appears that there will be good weather throughout Friday so supporters can travel in the knowledge that the meeting will be on. There have been no further late changes to the field.
