Edinburgh Monarchs
Great Britain and Australia have named their squads for the World Cup coming up in early June and the Border Roofing Monarchs are well represented.
The tournament gets underway at Gniezno in Poland with Poland, Sweden, Czech republic and Russia contesting that event. It then moves to King's Lynn on 8th June with Great Britain, USA, Australia and Latvia contesting that round and Monarchs teammates could be lining up against each other there.
Craig Cook has been included in the ten man Great Britain squad for the event. After Tai Woffinden and Chris Harris the remaining two places could be filled by anyone although Robert Lambert and Lewis Kerr could be favourites as it is their home Elite League track. Craig will have to dominate in his next few meetings to push himself forward.
Both Sam Masters and Justin Sedgmen are included in the Australia squad. The Aussies have three obvious selections in Chris Holder, Troy Batchelor and Jason Doyle but any of the other seven could be selected as the final team member although with Max Fricke and Dakota North only riding in the Elite League they may start as favourites for the final place.
Erik Riss and Kevin Wolbert don't have to concern themselves about World Cup selection as Germany were eliminated from the competition last Saturday at Landshut when Russia won through to the semi final. The Germans were certainly hindered when Tobias Busch crashed out of the meeting after his first race.
