Friday night's visitors to Armadale, the Somerset Rebels, stayed very much in contention for a top two finish with a comfortable victory over Ipswich on Tuesday evening and, in doing so, left the door open to a few contenders for the sixth qualifying place.

The three league points won by the Rebels on Tuesday has taken them two places up the league into third place and although not yet breathing down the neck of the two Scottish clubs holding the top two positions at the moment they do have three important away league matches coming up this week, starting at Armadale on Friday.

That tour for the Rebels starts at Armadale on Friday and it has now become a vital match for both clubs. A win for the Border Roofing Monarchs will all but secure a top two finish for them but any win for the Rebels will be a huge confidence booster for the matches to follow at Berwick and Glasgow.

It is a huge match for both teams on Friday and with the Rebels bringing many supporters north a very big crowd is expected for a clash between two clubs that usually produces a tense affair.

Ipswich's defeat on Tuesday may have opened the door to Plymouth gaining a play off spot. If they win their final three home league matches, against Scunthorpe, Newcastle and Berwick, that might be enough to take them into the top six. Workington are also still in with a shout although they have found it difficult to pick up any points away from home this year. And maybe Ipswich will hold onto the sixth place they occupy at the moment.

Friday will see the annual Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund collection at Armadale.
