The Border Roofing Monarchs head to Ashfield this afternoon to defend a 21 point first leg lead and retain the League Cup but we have not been helped by news coming from Germany last night.

Erik Riss and Kevin Wolbert were both racing in the Bundesliga Play Off final in Landshut last night and Kevin took a heavy tumble in his last race. That resulted in a visit to hospital and, unfortunately he is not fit to take his place in our team today. He has suffered neck, shoulder and hand injuries the extent of which we are not yet certain although nothing is broken.

All but Craig Cook will be able to take a ride in Kevin's place.

We still go to Glasgow with a good degree of confidence of being able to score the magical 35 to retain the trophy in front of what looks like being a huge crowd at Ashfield.

The Tigers have shuffled their riding order hoping for a good start from Richard Lawson and Kauko Nieminen. Coty Garcia will again take the place of Max Clegg although Max is travelling north to cheer on his teammates.
