There is bad news once again for the Monarchs’ speedway community with the passing of our good friend and contributor Gordon Fraser.

Gordon played his part in several ways, writing a weekly programme column under the name Tapesup, and contributing to the Chatzone under the same name. He often worked diligently for the First Aid team on race nights and was extremely helpful in organising this important group.

The last thing he would ever have done is seek the limelight. He was a quiet, thoughtful and intelligent man, and this came across in his intriguing columns for the match programme. How he managed to keep up such a standard, for a decade or more, is quite astonishing.

On the Chatzone, amongst his measured posts, he liked to trawl the internet and post links to interesting speedway news stories.

Gordon had been battling illness for some time, always with courage and never making a fuss, and he was still managing to attend speedway when his health allowed.

We send our deepest sympathies to his family and will convey funeral details when we know them.
