It has been a regular pattern at Armadale this season. Dry weather in the morning gradually turns to cloud and then rain and that what's happened again this week causing the postponement of tonight's Premier League match between the Border Roofing Monarchs and the Somerset Rebels.

Of course we have watched a very poor forecast for Friday on every weather report throughout the last few days but our man at the track, Ronnie Anderson, reported first thing this morning that the winds was blowing from an easterly direction and not as forecast from the south west. For a time that gave us hope that the rain may have been pushed to the west of us and allow us to get the match on. However, the rain began to fall just after midday and the forecast suggested a very bleak afternoon with heavy rain.

Said Club Chairman, Alex Harkess, "We're desperate to get our matches on. That's our eighth rain-off this season, a record I think. We've already got one double header planned for 2nd September and we'll have to fit in another one if we are going to race our outstanding fixtures before the cut-off date for Play-Off qualification on 19th September. However, it's not a simple matter of putting forward a date and expecting the opposition to agree as riders have so many commitments outside the Premier League these days."

With a Play-Off place well within our grasp it is important that these fixtures are staged before mid September.

Those that purchased advance tickets for tonight's match can use them in any equivalent fixture this season although a top up payment will be required to use them for a double header.
