It was a great night for the two Border Roofing Monarchs in action on Saturday with Erik Riss becoming World Long Track champion again and Max Clegg becoming National League Riders Champion.

Going into the last round of the Championship at Vechta, Germany, Erik was already in a comfortable position being sixteen points ahead of nearest rival, reigning Champion Jannick de Jong but wasted no time in clinching the title with two dominant rides in his first two races before defeating de Jong in his third ride to clinch the title. He then went on to win four more races to be the first rider to score a maximum in the Grand Prix this year.

Closer to home Max Clegg was representing his National League team, Cradley , in the National League Riders Championship at Leicester. Max dominated the meeting, as he has done so many times recently in the National League, and won his first four races convincingly. He then went into his last race knowing that a second place would be enough to win the title but he was up against his nearest rival, Luke Bowen. However, when Bowen tumbled in the first staging of the race and was excluded Max took the necessary second place to secure the Championship.

A great night for our two young riders.
