Our two Monarchs Sam Masters and Ricky Wells were amongst the leading performers today in the Peter Karlsson Farewell meeting at Wolverhampton.

Both scored 19 points in a Pairs contest (scoring 4-3-2-0) won by the Wolves Legends which featured Freddie Lindgren, Peter Karlsson and reserves!

Skipper Sam was quite surprised when he was told he had scored 19! “Really? I didn’t think I went that well!”

It was a satisfactory start for Sam who will soon be in full swing, with a trip to Poland this week as well as our season-launching events on Thursday and Friday. The PK event was a good start. Sam added “It was all right, the first one for the season so I was just getting the hang of everything again.

“The track was good, a little bit different from normal but I enjoyed myself, and that’s all that matters for the start of the season.”

Like most riders, Sam is an admirer of Peter Karlsson whose final event it was. “When he came to ride at Wolves last season we got on really well. We were beside each other in the pits and I think he’s just that type of guy that everyone can get along with. He’s a legend and I was happy to do the meeting for him.”
