The Parsons Peebles Monarchs made it 5 out of 5 with a thrilling 53-37 victory at Scunthorpe on Sunday evening.

What made this all the more remarkable was that the Monarchs actually got off to a poor start and trailed the hosts by 8 points after 6 heats. From this point on though they were unstoppable providing all remaining 9 race winners and with excellent back up all 4 SGB Championship points were secured.

Monarchs team manager John Campbell was delighted after the match saying 'I thought we were dead and gone when we were 8 points down and I couldn't see where we were going to get a race win from. They have turned it round completely, it must be one of the biggest turnarounds ever in an away match to be 8 points down and win by 16 absolutely amazing. Josh's ride in heat 8 was a catalyst that got the boys going and when they got going there was just no stopping them.'

It was a true team effort with Ricky Wells and Erik Riss leading the way on 12 points apiece, they were ably backed up by Mark Riss with 11 and Sam Masters weighed in with 8. Josh Pickering and Max Clegg will also be happy with their nights work both contributing when it mattered and although he failed to score Mitchell Davey also battled hard and was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey will not be happy with his side's capitulation and he apologised to the Scunthorpe fans before the match was over.

The result sees the Parsons Peebles Monarchs stay top of the SGB Championship and they now look forward to a busy week ahead as attention moves to the Knockout Cup with a visit to Sheffield on Thursday.
