There was no joy at Armadale tonight as the weather made conditions impossible for racing, a big disappointment to all the riders, sponsors and fans waiting to see the Monarchs v Buxton fixture.

The track was saturated and the rain continued well after the decision was made. If possible we would like to have Buxton back at a later stage. They were actually undertaking this fixture without some of their own riders who had booked holidays when there were originally no fixtures on prior to Sunday. So if we can fit them in again in might be a slightly more representative team.

It’s the second time that we have tried and failed to put on an event for the younger riders, following the postponement of the Caledonian Riders Championship earlier.

We did at least manage to present Ma Wood with a 90th birthday cake, and Josh Pickering (3 hours sleep after racing at Foxhall last night) got out of his bed to come and present Ma with flowers.

The Parsons Peebles Monarchs head for Newcastle on Sunday, boosted by that remarkable win at Ipswich on Thursday.
