For the second time in three weeks, the weather has been the winner at Armadale and tonight's Championship Shield match with Workington has been postponed.

Heavy rain late on Thursday evening and into Friday morning made the track very wet but when the rain cleared after ten o'clock it gave us hope that the match could be on. However, low cloud and mist continued to linger at the track and with humidity levels very high, no drying took place to the track surface and at twelve thirty the decision was taken to call the meeting off.

Club Chairman, Alex Harkess said, "It is very disappointing to call off a match on what will probably end up being a relatively dry day but the track has taken a battering now for a number of weeks and the water table is so high that any amount of rain will cause a problem. We've certainly had an amount of rain in the last twenty four hours. If this is spring then I can't wait for summer to get here."

Summer may well be on its way. Indications are good for our meeting at Workington tomorrow and the forecast suggests that we will be bathed in sunshine with high temperatures for the next event in our 70th Anniversary year, the 40s/50s night not to mention our match against Glasgow.

Advance tickets purchased for tonight's match are valid for a future match at Armadale this season until used.
