Eddie on our weekend trip to Lakeside

There is no meeting at Armadale tonight, though as always we tried to find opposition wiling to come. Rescheduling fixtures has never been harder.

The only good thing about that is that it allows the team a more comfortable ride down south for tomorrow evening’s match at Lakeside, clearly a tough Championship fixture against a very solid home side starring Nick Morris and Richard Lawson.

With Ricky Wells competing in the GP qualifier at Zarnovice in Slovakia, the Staggs Bar Monarchs call on Eddie Kennett as a guest rider at no. 1.

THIS WEEK’S MEETING:

Saturday 19th May: Lakeside Hammers v Staggs Bar Monarchs (Championship) 7:45pm

GRAND PRIX CHALLENGE:

Just two of the current Staggs Bar Monarchs have an interest in this year’s qualifying rounds. Ricky Wells rides in Zarnovice on Saturday and Mark Riss is reserve for the Abensberg round on Monday. Erik Riss would have liked a place in that round but former Monarch Max Dilger is the preferred choice alongside Smolinski. Kevin Wolbert rides at Lonigo.

There are just three qualifiers from each meeting, with a quarter of the field in the GP Challenge in July made up of wild cards. The allocation of places in the qualifiers is also controversial with (for example) Italy having more places than Great Britain.
