We are now able to update on the injuries sustained by our Swedes on Friday night and for one it is good news but for the other not so good.

First of all the not so good news. Joel Andersson's fall in heat two on Friday left him with a very sore foot after it was hit by Alfie Bowtell's footrest. That left Joel hopping around the stadium for the rest of the evening and he eventually hobbled out of the stadium at the end of the night.

Co-promoter Alex Harkess takes up the story," Joel paid a visit to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary on Saturday afternoon and x-rays confirmed that he has broken two bones, the first and third metatarsals. The hospital put him in a moon boot and sent him away to recover. That had Joel immediately making plans to return to Sweden and a visit to the bone specialist there. Joel thinks he can be back in action in a fortnight although that is a good bit shorter than the hospital diagnosis. We'll have to see how things develop."

The better news is on Victor Palovaara who took a nasty tumble into the fence in heat 8. He walked off the track with an injured hand. He was keen to take his final ride in heat 10 and had to be persuaded that it was better if he rested.

He has subsequently reported that the thumb injury that he suffered was feeling much better and he had a greater concern with a knee injury. However, he has suggested that neither will prevent him from taking his place in the team at Glasgow on Tuesday.

We are entitled to a guest replacement during Joel's absence and on Tuesday at Glasgow we bring in Sheffield's American, Broc Nicol.
