Friday saw the launch of the Staggs Bar Monarchs 2019 year with a trio of events for the team as we look ahead to the tapes up next week.

First up it was to Armadale for the traditional press and practice day with the riders all looking resplendent in their new race jackets.

After a photo shoot for the various gathered photographers it was time for the boys to hit the track. All the riders looked sharp with Luke in particular mixing up some lines and noticeably getting faster as the session progressed. Willie Lawson also seemed keen to get as many laps in as possible this being his first time on the bike this year.

Once the track time was done the guys then headed to the Black Bull Inn in Mid Calder for a team dinner with thanks to Donald at the Black Bull for his hospitality and Derek Wilkinson of Duddingston Private Hire for sponsoring the event.

It was then onwards to Napier University's Craiglockart campus and the very impressive 'Egg; building for the season launch show.

All of the team and promotion were onstage and all were very positive on the year ahead and you could sense that all can't wait for the real stuff to get started next Friday against Wolverhampton.

There was some news to come out of this event with Liam Rudden being introduced to the Monarchs fans as part of a new presenting tandem at Armadale in partnership with John McGillivray who will provide a fresh new way of interacting with the fans and riders on a Friday night.

There was also the announcement of the Staggs Bar Monarchs captain for 2019 with number 1 Ricky Wells the man to take on the mantle of leading the team into the new season.

The countdown is now well and truly on to our opening match against Wolverhampton this Friday with tapes due to fly at 19.30 on the 71st year of the Monarchs with tickets available now.
