Luke Ruddick has made a very positive impact on Championship racing since joining the Staggs Bar Monarchs at the beginning of the season. That is until last weekend.

Luke took a heavy fall in heat two of our home match with the Bandits on Friday but worse was to follow in the return match at Shielfield on Saturday.

Luke takes up the story, "It was heat 8 and I'd made a reasonable start but when I got to the first corner Leon (Flint) has taken my line and I'd nowhere to go. My bike hit the safety fence really hard but initially I was more annoyed that I had been excluded as I thought it was a clear case of first bend bunching."

"When they got my bike back to the pits as was more concerned with that. Everything was bent except the back wheel. The front wheel, forks, handlebars and diamond were all a bit of a mess. I'd estimate it will cost about £750 to get it back to racing standard."

"It's a big hit for me financially. I put every penny I had into my bikes at the start of the season so it will be a struggle to sort it all out but it's speedway and it's happened before and I've overcome it so I'll do what I have to this time as well."

Luke would be happy to speak to anyone at Armadale on Saturday that can offer any kind of assistance and he's already grateful to Derek Wilkinson of Duddingston Private Hire for his support.
