The Staggs Bar Monarchs scored 13 points in the semi-final of the Fours at Peterborough, which left them in fifth position, obviously one off the qualifying places for the final.

It wasn't a bad effort considering we didn't have Josh Pickering. Our high scorers were Cameron Heeps and Joel Andersson on 5 points each.

Winners of the event were solid Somerset with Sheffield's Danny King beating Glasgow's Craig Cook in the second place runoff.

As usual at Peterborough there were some spectacular heats in amongst the fast processions and our riders were involved in some of them.

Heat 5 featured a storming ride from our entertainer of the weekend Cameron, passing Bjerre and Howarth in one great move and finishing just behind Richie Worrall.

In the following heat Victor Palovaara led all the way with Chris Harris pressing, and a mistake on the last corner let Bomber through for the win. "I just leant a bit too far back," admitted Victor.

Joel's heat 19 victory over Steve Worrall was certainly one of the races of the day, with much passing and re-passing in a very tenacious ride by Joel.

Cameron made it two wins to finish with for Monarchs in a relatively easy heat 21, but we fell just a point short of qualifying. Ricky Wells will rue the fact that he managed just a single point from two of the tougher races.

The event was well presented in front of what seemed a decent crowd by recent standards.
