We are pleased to announce that Connor Coles is coming in to the Staggs Bar Monarchs' team and making his debut on Friday. He will be an injury replacement for Luke Ruddick, one of three of our riders who are currently on the injured list. Luke's return date is unclear.

24 year old Connor rode for us last Friday of course, scoring a point, but making it official rather than on a guest basis ensures that he will be available for all our fixtures.

Of course, as he is probably fed up being reminded, Connor is son of Monarchs' legend of the nineties Michael Coles.

He said "I think it's a good track and I'm pleased to have an opportunity to have a great team to ride for. I do know Cameron Heeps already as I spent a bit of time with him in Australia, but I don't know the other boys other than speaking with them when I was up last Friday."

He feels he has the machinery to combine Monarchs' outings with his National League matches for Stoke. "I've not long bought a new engine – though it's not brand new."

He expects dad Michael and grandad Bob, also a star rider in his day, to be occasional members of his pit crew.

He rides against Glasgow this Friday and Sunday, having been on the winning side for Glasgow against the Monarchs in the Championship Shield match at Armadale.
