For the second year in a row, the Staggs Bar Monarchs find themselves with an outside chance of taking one of four places in the SGB Championship Play Offs. In 2019, however, their destiny remains very much in their own hands.

The first two places will almost certainly be taken by Leicester and Glasgow who have both been dominant throughout the 2019 campaign. The resurgent Redcar Bears currently occupy third spot with Somerset sitting in fourth.

With a September 19th deadline looming, Monarchs have three home fixtures and three away fixtures remaining. Almost every point may prove pivotal to taking a top four spot.

Coming up first tomorrow, the twice postponed away fixture at Somerset could be the most decisive. The Rebels need all the points available to give them more breathing space in the top 4. However should Monarchs succeed in lowering the Rebels' colours, it makes overtaking them a greater possibility.

Monarchs will then face Somerset back at Armadale Stadium this Friday where it will be absolutely vital not to let the Rebels sneak away with any points whatsoever.

Over the weekend, Monarchs face two away matches against Berwick and Newcastle with up to 8 points available.

On the assumption that every other team wins their remaining home fixtures, a win at Somerset could mean that only a few points are required from the fixtures over the weekend.

However a loss at Somerset will require two 4 point victories at Berwick and Newcastle to take the number 4 spot down to points difference.

Should Monarchs succeed over the weekend, plans are in place to ensure all remaining home matches will be run ahead of the cut off date.

If not, the Monarchs' SGB Championship campaign will be completed after the Play Off deadline.

It's shaping up to be another thrilling run in to the Play Offs - don't miss a moment of it!
