Club Historian Mike Hunter has studied the excellent action currently showing on EMTV+ to present his suggested viewing for this week. Mike's EMTV+ Match of the Week is the 1991 visit of Hackney - find out why!

Continuing our weekly selection of a recommended match for our subscribers to watch from our available seasons on EMTV+, I'm sticking with Powderhall this week and recommending the visit of Hackney on 23rd June 1991.

Hackney were no longer quite the force they had been at the end of the eighties, but they were still an entertaining squad featuring classy Swedes Tony Olsson and Richard Hellsen, plus one of Hackney's best ever discoveries Paul Whittaker.

The Monarchs' team contained some of our most popular riders of any era – Les Collins, Brett Saunders, Michael Coles and the Danish pals Frede Schott and Johnny Jorgensen. For Johnny, this was to be perhaps his best ever match in our colours.
