For our fourth recommended Match of the Week we are in season 2008, in which our thrilling young team brought the league title to Armadale for the second time.
The match I have chosen is the Knockout Cup visit of Berwick Bandits on 25th April – the first leg with Monarchs due at Shielfield for the second leg the next day. We were racing without Andrew Tully and William Lawson who were down south for the British Under-21 Championship. Our guests were James Grieves and Lee Dicken who both gave their all.
It was a wet night and the conditions were very difficult towards the end of the match – but the racing got better and better and the best heats were over the closing stages in what appeared to be the worst of the conditions.
Henning Bager and Michal Makovsky were tremendous for Bandits and coped brilliantly with the wet circuit. Watch out for a controversial heat 15 finish. We won at Berwick the next day to go through to the next round.
Some of the captions seem to be wrong but don't let that spoil your enjoyment.
