Frustration was the main feeling at Armadale when the Cup tie with Birmingham was eventually called off after seven completed heats with the score 26-16. Rain was the winner even though initially the riders and track staff thought racing could resume. Heavy returning showers put paid to that.

Home team manager Alex Harkess said "It was going according to plan and we had built a handy lead with more to come I think. Our heat leaders were dominant. We always try to keep meetings going but it became clear that we couldn't sort things."

It had indeed been a strong start by the What the Fork Monarchs with six of the race winners in seven heats. The exception was Paco Castagna taking heat 2.

Masters, Worrall and Pickering were all unbeaten after two rides, and Kye Thomason also had a race win. Both Nathan Greaves and Joe Lawlor picked up points in their second heats after a shaky opener, and William Lawson using some Richie Worrall equipment had scored 3.

Chris Harris and Erik Riss looked like providing the main opposition with Ashley Morris also starting with a good ride, but it's all academic now and when the match is restaged, it will start from scratch.

Heat of the night was heat 5 with Pickering and Harris passing and re-passing behind race leader Kye Thomson.

Tonight proved to be the last appearance as a Monarch for Joe Lawlor who has been released. His replacement will be announced tomorrow. We thank Joe for his efforts.
