  Edinburgh Monarchs

After a Friday night off the What the Fork Monarchs hit the road on Saturday as they head for league topping Leicester in Championship action.

The home men have made short work of all and sundry round their own shale this year with only Poole emerging with so much as a point and the Monarchs go into this one with the added handicap of captain and number 1 Sam Masters missing out with a foot injury.

Richard Lawson steps in and while the Monarchs generally feel that Masters is irreplaceable Lawson is as good a guest as any having recorded a 12-point haul in that Poole match beating all of the Lions top 3.

Elsewhere the Monarchs are as per normal with Beaumont Park debuts in store for both Lasse and Jacob.

The Monarchs battled well to pick up a point in this fixture last year with Josh Pickering weighing with 12 that night more of the same is required from our stand in captain.

Kye Thomson can't really go any worse than he did on his visit last year where a myriad of machine issues and a heavy knock meant he failed to score, Paco and James will also be looking for better than they managed when riding for Birmingham and Redcar respectively last year.

For the home men there is one change to the normal line-up Dan Thompson missing out with rider replacement in operation this means extra rides for Connor Mountain and the reserves Joe Thompson and recent addition Max Clegg

The Lions charge will no doubt be led by a formidable heat leader trio all familiar to the Monarchs in one way or another 2 being former Monarchs in Kyle Howarth and Richie Worrall and the other a bit of a pantomime villain due to his time with Glasgow Nick Morris.

So, a tough looking match in store for the Monarchs as the Lions look to secure that top spot and a bye int the first round of the playoffs while the Monarchs know that any points could go a long way to secure their own playoff place.

Tapes up at 6.30pm with live updates available on the Monarchs website.
