Scottish Open to say Farewell to Armadale

On Saturday 15th October the 2022 Scottish Open Speedway Championship will mark a glorious send off to say Farewell to Armadale.

The final ever speedway event at Armadale Stadium will take place on Saturday 15th October with a 6:30pm start with admission gates opening at 5pm.

Club Chairman, Alex Harkess said: "Armadale Stadium has been a terrific home for the Monarchs and the Scottish Open Championship will be a fitting way to say Farewell to Armadale. There will be a great field and we hope to see many old faces there to celebrate the wonderful time we have spent at the stadium."

The 2022 Scottish Open Speedway Championship is sponsored by Duddingston Private Hire and Ratho Coaches and supported by Event Scotland.

Paul Bush OBE, VisitScotland Director of Events, said: "I am delighted that EventScotland is supporting the Scottish Open Speedway Championship through the National Events Funding Programme, helping to bring an action packed evening of motorcycling to West Lothian. Armadale, home to the Edinburgh Monarchs, has been the perfect stage for motorsports and I'm sure this fantastic event will be enjoyed by all."

The line-up will see riders who have ridden in Monarchs colours during the Armadale era, with the first names to be confirmed in the coming days. After the main event, the curtain will fall with the sky lit up with a spectacular fireworks display.

Any rider who has ridden for the Monarchs in the Armadale era is invited to attend to celebrate this wonderful chapter in the history of the Club.

The prestigious Scottish Open will see 22 heats of high quality speedway, almost 50% more racing than a regular league match, with admission prices offering excellent value for this and the firework display. Three special packages are on offer for supporters looking to add to their enjoyment of the occasion:

Farewell VIP Package - £65
Includes admission for one, access to hospitality area to watch match, complimentary food and bar, plus souvenir programme.

Racejacket Sponsorship Package - £75
Sponsor the race jacket of one of the participants and it is yours to keep at the end of the night! Package includes admission for one, souvenir programme, plus take home a piece of history with one of the racejackets from the match.

Ultimate Farewell Package - £95
Combines both VIP and Racejacket Sponsorship packages into one - hospitality on the night including admission, food, drink and souvenir programme, plus take home piece of history with one of the racejackets from the match.

A marvellous enhanced-length souvenir magazine, priced at £5, will be available on the night, including a year-by-year account of the Monarchs' time at Armadale Stadium. This will be a true collector's edition.

The supporters bus provided by Duddingston Private Hire/Ratho Coaches will operate as normal departing from the Waterloo Place at 4:30pm.
