  Edinburgh Monarchs

The Stellar Monarchs hit the road on Wednesday evening as they open up their away league campaign with a visit to Perry Barr and a match-up against the Birmingham Brummies.

Coming off a home defeat to Redcar last Friday and with a shortened league season all points are vital and with a good recent record in the Midlands this is a match the Monarchs will be looking to win to get back on track.

A victory will be no easy task though as the Brummies showed on Tuesday night taking a victory at Plymouth to start their own campaign with a bang.

Both sides are see changes with Josh Pickering still out with his shoulder injury the Monarchs bring in Rory Schlein to guest at number 1. Rory hasn't been back to Perry Barr since returning to the sport this year, but he has an excellent record there in the past so the Monarchs will hope for a big score to set the table for the rest to follow.

Elsewhere the Monarchs are as expected and key man for many will be Paco Castagna, Castagna a former Brummie has already guested multiple times for the hosts this season with scores of 8 and 10 at Perry Barr to his name.

For the home men as one team member returns from injury another departs. James Wright will make his Birmingham season debut after crashing out in Paul Starke's testimonial at the start of the season. His return being tempered by the injury to Stefan Nielsen at Plymouth on Tuesday. Rider replacement will be in operation with Wright, Alfie Bowtell and reserves James Pearson and recent acquisition Joe Thompson all eligible to fill in.

Another 'old friend' of the Monarchs Justin Sedgmen has been the main man so far for the Brummies with excellent 13 and 14 point hauls at Redcar and Plymouth already to his name and with back-up from Nick Morris some big battles will be in store at the top end of the septets.
