It's been a bumpy period for the Club, but huge work by the promotion aims to reset the season ahead of Friday's massive derby clash against Glasgow. Here's a roundup of everything that's happened.

11 days ago Stellar Monarchs fell to a shock defeat against Scunthorpe in the second home Cab Direct Championship fixture of the season. This, along with impending average changes, proved the catalyst for team changes as Jacob Hook and Kyle Bickley were released from the side.

Newcomer to British Speedway, Bastian Borke was drafted into the side on a 5.00 point average, with Academy newcomer Dayle Wood taking a reserve berth on a 2.00 average.

Bastian travelled to the UK last Friday to get in a second half practice session to get to grips with his new home circuit ahead of his first match.

These changes allow the in-form Lasse Fredriksen to shift down to reserve, bolstering a previously struggling area of the line-up.

The refreshed line-up for this Friday's Championship clash with Glasgow will be:

  1. Richie Worrall (Guest for Josh Pickering)
  2. Paco Castagna
  3. Bastian Borke
  4. Kye Thomson
  5. Craig Cook
  6. Dayle Wood
  7. Lasse Fredriksen

Now in his third season with the Club and very much a part of the fabric, Kye Thomson will step into the captain's role for Friday and will look to motivate a strong performance from his side.

Meanwhile, Monarchs Academy experienced a shock collapse on Friday to Oxford Chargers. Kyle Bickley soon made the announcement that he would retire from sport with immediate effect. While Alex Spooner also suffered a broken collarbone in an unfortunate and awkward tumble.

Work has been continuing to fill the heat leader vacancy ahead of Monarchs Academy's next fixture on June 17th.

Better news came from the grassroots level of the Club on Saturday as Monarchs Speedway Academy scholars Lewis Hague, Rocco Webb, Liam Morris and Lee Harrison took part in the British Youth Championship Round 4. Lewis, Rocco and Liam made the Final with Lewis taking top spot and Liam third. A fantastic achievement for all involved.

With the reset now in effect, Monarchs now look ahead to a huge derby encounter at Armadale Stadium this Friday from 7:30pm. Tickets are available to book now for this classic derby showdown.
