Edinburgh Monarchs
The Stellar Monarchs comfortably saw off the Workington Comets in the first round of the Championship Knockout Cup last weekend, and with very little delay they now face up to a potentially tougher hurdle in the Quarter Final, against Glasgow on Friday at Armadale and Saturday afternoon at Ashfield.
Glasgow have already this season landed two narrow victories at Armadale in the Scottish Cup and BSN Series, but Edinburgh can point to a 2-point win through at Ashfield in the Scottish Cup as well as other reasonable away displays. Monarchs will of course be without their departed Polish star Oskar Polis and will use rider replacement in the first leg. New signing Michael Palm Toft doesn't join the side until next week.
Glasgow will be missing injured Dan Thompson for a while with a broken scaphoid which is a major blow for them though guest replacement Drew Kemp can be almost equally effective. Dan scored a paid maximum on his last Armadale visit (and Drew 12+1 on his!)
Monarchs' captain Paco Castagna knows that his team have to be at their best throughout. "It is all about being focused from the first race to the last, it is crucial to score every point so no one will be experimenting or changing anything during the meeting like they maybe would in another match if the team is far ahead or anything like that but we always try to keep the same mentality in general.
"Coming into the meeting though we feel confident after the Workington matches and we need to take this into the Glasgow matches, it is a two leg match and anything can happen."
Friday's match will be Live Streamed for those who cannot attend, details on www.edinburghmonarchs.co.uk.
