Dan fifth in the UK Final

Our no. 1 Dan Thompson rode cleverly and consistently in the Cab Direct British Final at the National Speedway Stadium last night to reach the semi final with 10 points. He was third in the semi, behind surprise packet Cooper Rushen and Leon Flint, so fifth in the event.

These were Dan's heats:

Heat 2: Ellis Thompson, Cairns, Kemp

Heat 8: Lambert, Thompson, Mulford, Brennan

Heat 11: Flint, Thompson, Pijper, Edwards

Heat 14: Wright, Thompson, Rushen, Scott

Heat 17: Rowe, Thompson, Harris, King

Semi: Rushen, Flint, Thompson, Rowe

The final finished Lambert, Wright, Flint, Rushen so Robert Lambert successfully retained his title, mainly by bombing around the wide line at a pace no-one else could match.

The meeting was screened by ITV4 and hopefully might have encouraged some viewers to take an interest in our sport.
