Monarchs duo Dan Thompson and Kye Thomson head to Poole tonight to represent the club in the 2026 Championship Pairs.

The prestigious event brings together the top pairings from across the Championship at Wimborne Road, with tapes up at 7:00pm.

Dan and Kye will carry the Monarchs colours in a strong nine-team field, with the pair both enjoying impressive seasons as they look to mount a challenge for the silverware on the south coast.

They face plenty of tough opposition, including home pairing Richard Lawson and Zach Cook, defending champions Redcar with Charles Wright and Jason Edwards, and former Monarch Sam Masters alongside Anders Rowe for Oxford.

Redcar have dominated the competition in recent years, winning three of the last four stagings, while Monarchs last lifted the Pairs title in 2014 when Masters partnered Max Fricke to victory.

The format will see the nine pairings battle for a place in the latter stages before the destination of the 2026 Championship Pairs title is decided in a winner-takes-all final.
