Today's British Youth Championship was sadly cut short following a nasty crash in heat 2.

Oscar Berwick was the unfortunate rider to come off worst from an untidy crash in the second race of the day.

The track ambulance and medial team were swiftly on the scene to ensure Oscar received the best possible care before being moved into the ambulance in a stable condition and onwards to hospital.

After a significant delay while Oscar was treated, and with a likely long wait for the ambulance to return from hospital, the decision was taken to abandon the event.

Oscar suffered a broken right femur, for which he is having an operation on Sunday morning. Everyone at Edinburgh Monarchs Speedway wishes Oscar all the very best for a speedy recovery.

Thank you to all who attended and watched the stream for your patience throughout this afternoon.

Information for ticket holders and live stream purchasers will be available in the coming days once an update on a potential restaging is available.
