News Archive - January 2014

Every year we appear to be getting earlier and earlier in announcing our fixture list and we’re a week ahead of last year in publishing the 2014 list today.

We are very pleased to announce another important event in our fund raising for our air fence. On Friday 14th March we will be presenting "A Brief History of Speedway Racing in Edinburgh" at Boroughmuir Rugby Clubhouse at Meggetland.

Fixtures between the Scotwaste Monarchs and the Glasgow Tigers are going to be especially interesting this year because both sides bear little resemblance to their finishing seven from 2013.

Once again the Scotwaste Monarchs’ riders in the Australian Final third leg can be happy with their performances. Max Fricke (10) and Justin Sedgmen (9) made it to the B Final at Gillman while Sam Masters recovered from a slow start to win his last two heats.

With less than ten weeks to go before our air fence must be in place we are now making our final plans for fund raising events in support of our big fund raiser coming up on 28th March.

Top Scotwaste Monarch in the second leg of the Australian Championship Final at Undera was Justin Sedgmen, who scored an excellent 11 points in the qualifying races to make the A Final. There was solid scoring again from all of our three representatives with Sam Masters on 8 and Max Fricke on 7.

A Happy New Year to each and every one of you! I hope that 2014 brings you peace and happiness and that the Edinburgh Scotwaste Monarchs have a great season with all our riders staying as injury-free as possible!

Thanks to great coverage from All Sports Radio in Australia, Scotwaste Monarchs’ fans were able to enjoy coverage of the three Monarchs’ riders doing well in the first round of the Australian Championships at Kurri Kurri today.
